We found a cracked swage terminal on the OEM lifelines on this 54’ sloop. The owner wanted to upgrade to synthetic lines for the sleek look, clean install with no pins or sharp edges, and smooth feel. We decided on Gottifredi Maffioli Ultrawire over Safeline Max as continuous diameter was not required for the stanchions and the Ultrawire was a more suitable line for splicing on-site. All connections to the rails are soft except for the one-snap gate hook, which can be removed and installed one handed very easily. This minimizes streaking from corrosion and deck noise, as well as eliminating failure points.
