This Dockrell 27 was in dire need of work. With 7×19 standing rigging, worn parts all over, and completely wrong factory installs it was time for some intervention. Below are some work details and before and afters.

Before - A twist shackle connecting the headstay fork terminal to the stem of the boat.

After - New setup including new Harken furler and turnbuckle setup with appropriately sized toggle for stem.

Before - Delta toggle combining offset backstay and topping lift loads - putting lots of torsional force on the masthead backstay crane.

After - Proper use of all masthead accommodations. Standard strap toggle fitted to masthead, and inner stemball slot used with rope-stemball fitting for hanging dyneema topping lift.

No before here as there was no bushing - new designed and printed self tacking boom gooseneck bushing.

Before - Through bar compression tube worn away. Caught just before the through bolt started to wear away the mast section.

After - New compression tube and clean tangs ready to be installed.

Ground down and bent toggle that was not fitting masthead properly. Replaced with standard double jaw as test fit in photo. Also seen in background are cracked sheaves - all replaced with bushed delrin.

Before - Inner forestay tang. Stay attached above block, with each shackle pinched and wearing on top of each other.

After - Halyard block hanger integrated with stay attachment.

The existing masthead pins were hollow aluminum tubes. It was best practice to replace them with new 316 solid clevice pins. Pins were made and drilled to match the masthead.
